Of course we had to kick off the summer with Golf and Guitars!!
I work at an amazing school where they embrace and even encourage my obsession with Ellen!
If you haven't heard, Finding Dory came out this summer!! Julena, Rachel, Skylar and Brittain went to see it the day before it premiered!! If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favor and go!!
Then...It was off to Washington DC with 14 of our students!
First stop: THE WHITE HOUSE!!
Sup Barack!!
Iwo Jima Memorial was amazing!!
Then, it was off to Ford's Theatre! One of our favorite stop...except for seeing the terrible John Wilkes Booth!!
These are the last steps that Lincoln walked up before he was shot! So crazy!
So many books about Lincoln!
Then, waiting outside was Melissa Rivers, so we had to get a selfie!!
Christopher Columbus memorial and the 3 flags to represent his 3 ships!
A big building!
Another big building!
And another!!
Oh yay! The Capitol!
Lady Freedom!
Helen Keller Statue
The Capitol was under construction and we almost got arrested! During our visit, the House of Reps were on strike for the gun laws and a police officer approached me and asked if I was going to start protesting! Luckily, I persuaded him with a polite pinky promise that I was not going to be protesting!
Then, it was off to the Lincoln Memorial where the Washington Monument can be seen! It was one of my favorite spots!
It was so awesome to be standing where the Martin Luther King Jr. stood and gave his greatest speech!!
And then...OMG my favorite memorial!! I promise it looks WAY bigger in person!
Hello Mr. Jefferson
At the Smithsonian, we got to see a bunch of First Lady's dresses. Here is Ellen's friend Michelle Obama's dress!
This might have been the last dress that Hilary Clinton wore!
Here we have something of Zachary Taylor which is Macey Hensley's favorite president. If you don't know who Macey is, then you should YouTube her! She is amazing and adorable!!
At Gettysburg we saw cannons!
And more cannons!
And a cart to carry cannons!
In Philadelphia, we went on a ghost tour, and Ellen did what Ellen does best! She scared the kids!!
Independence Hall
The Rocky Steps from the Rocky movies!!
Inside Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were written!! George Washington sat in that same chair that is at the front of the room!
Ben Franklin's printing office!!
Oh hey Georgie!!
Mr. Washington, how do you do?
Hello bronze guy!
Benji!!
Mr. Smiley!!
Hello sir!
After our trip to Washington DC, I went back to work at Park Terrace for the summer. During one of the weeks, I hosted Ellen Club! Throughout the week, the kids and I rehearsed a full show that we performed on Friday! The kids had NO IDEA that I was going to dress up as Ellen! It was a fun surprise and the kids all enjoyed having a "live taping" of The Ellen DeGeneres Show"!!
I hope you all enjoyed this blog! Please share with all your friends, and I promise to keep you updated on my adventure to LA to see Ellen in person!!
-Be kind to one another-
